Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) have arrested a gang of two females – Joseph Joy Adama and Vandora Davies Oreoluwa Favour – for the robbery and murder of a prominent Kwara socialite, Adeniyi Ojo.
The Force PRO, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, paraded the suspects on Wednesday in Abuja.
Adejobi said Adama and Favour, who are both students of Kwara State Polytechnic (KWARAPOLY) were apprehended on October 6, 2023 for their involvement in the robbery and murder of Mr. Adeniyi Ojo, the son of Chief Emmanuel Ojo, a prominent figure in Ilorin, Kwara State.

He disclosed that the suspects were apprehended by operatives of the Force Intelligence Tactical Team and of the Intelligence Special Tactical Squad in a recent operation. According to him, the suspects were tracked through meticulous investigation and apprehended in Mowe Ibafo, Ogun State“In a tragic incident, the duo tied the deceased under the guise of having a sex romp and demanded money from him. But when he was not forthcoming, they resorted to drugging and suffocating him, leading to his untimely demise,” the Force PRO stated.
While speaking to journalists, one of the suspects, Adama said she had been in a sexual relationship with the deceased and on that day, they went with the intention to steal from him but when he wasn’t succumbing, they drugged him and left with his phone and other valuables only to discover that he had died later.
Also, the Force PRO said: “A total of 54 suspects were arrested by the gallant operatives of DFI-IRT and DFI-STS, some of whom are already facing prosecution in court for the various cases for which they have been indicted; 92 firearms were recovered, 760 live ammunition were recovered, 14 exhibit vehicles, one forged document, 120 magazines, two IEDs, one suicide belt as well as cash sums of fake currencies totalling 970,000 US Dollars were also recovered and marked as exhibits for the prosecution of the various cases.”
Other notable arrests included those of suspected kidnappers involved in a Swiss national’s abduction.
The Police said the suspects include: Nneka Okparaf (33 years old), hails from Ikeduru LGA in Imo State; Emu Larry Chidiebere (34 years old), a resident of Ika North East LGA in Delta State; Babatude Femi (30 years old), originally from Owode Obafemi LGA in Ogun State; Williams Banjo Omotayo (28 years old), with roots in Epe LGA, Lagos State and Samuel Balogun (22 years old), from Isale-Oja LGA in Oyo State.
The Police said the five principal suspects were connected to the kidnapping of a Swiss national named Diego Tanner.
“This unfortunate incident occurred on May 30, 2023, when Mr. Tanner was abducted and subsequently released after a ransom payment of 2000 euros.
“The dedicated operatives of the IRT, tirelessly working to bring criminals to justice, put to use, the Nigeria Police Force’s ICT apparatus and arrested all the five principal suspects involved in this kidnapping case.
“This operation not only led to the apprehension of the suspects but also resulted in the recovery of critical evidence, including one assault rifle, two locally fabricated single-barrel long guns, and an empty magazine,” the Force PRO stated.
