2027: Adelabu Meets APC Leaders in Oyo, Ogbomoso Zones, Seeks Unity to Reclaim Power from PDP

…Says no imposition, pledges inclusive governance if elected

The Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, has intensified his consultations across Oyo State as part of efforts to actualize his gubernatorial ambition in 2027, meeting with All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders and stakeholders in Ogbomoso and Oyo geopolitical zones.

During his visit to Ogbomoso, Adelabu paid homage at the tomb of former Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala, and held strategic meetings with party stalwarts, including former Senator Ayoade Adeseun, in what he described as a crucial step toward uniting the party ahead of the next general elections.

Speaking at the gathering, Adelabu appealed to aggrieved party members to forgive past grievances and work collectively to ensure the APC reclaims Oyo State from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2027.

“I’m here to tell you that I intend to contest for the governorship of Oyo State in 2027,” Adelabu said. “I’m ready to put to use all the experience I have garnered from past elections. My ambition is not about zoning; I believe God’s time is the best. What matters now is unity and how we can collectively return APC to power.”

He described Ogbomoso as a pivotal region in determining the political direction of the state and expressed happiness over the apparent reconciliation of factions in the zone. “Ogbomoso is very important in Oyo politics. I’m encouraged to see unity among factions here. I need your support and backing.”

Adelabu also used the opportunity to call on residents of the region to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid, saying the region has already benefited from the current administration through key appointments.

“This is Yoruba’s turn to complete two terms. Ogbomoso has already reaped benefits with sons of the soil like Dr. Zacch Adedeji heading FIRS, Sunday Dare serving as a presidential adviser, and Bolaji Tunji working with me as Special Adviser on Media. Tinubu will do even more in a second term.”

In separate remarks, Senator Ayoade Adeseun and Hon. Olamijuwonlo Alao-Akala, son of the late former governor, emphasized the need for unity within the APC, stressing that only a prepared and united front could guarantee the party’s return to power in 2027.

In Oyo town, Adelabu continued his consultations, meeting with stakeholders, party members, and community leaders. He reiterated his commitment to running an inclusive government where “no one will be left behind” if elected as governor.

“I’m not here for imposition; I want to earn this. I want to prove my capacity to compete and win. Oyo is like a second home to me, and I promise that the Oyo zone will get its fair share. This region is symbolic and significant to the entire state.”

Hon. Akeem Adeyemi, member representing Afijio/Atiba/Oyo East/Oyo West Federal Constituency, also affirmed Adelabu’s readiness for the race, noting that the consultations were a clear indication of his determination to clinch the APC ticket and govern the state.

The meetings mark a renewed momentum in Adelabu’s 2027 campaign trail, with observers noting the strategic importance of early mobilization and reconciliation efforts within the party ranks.
