Residents of Koloko Idi-Odo Area of Ibadan, the Oyo state capital on Sunday were thrown into mourning as eye witnesses who were weeping, narrated a gory and disheartening incident.
According to the report gathered by Double A Exclusive Media correspondent, the neighbors said, it was a building collapse which occurred around 7pm on Saturday killed a three and a half years old boy who was entrapped in the rumbles.
According to Alhaja Sariyu Olanrewaju and Mrs. Nike Olanrewaju, “it was around seven o’clock when we heard the sound of a heavy downfall!, it was this part that collapsed initially and later when I was coming to observe the scene, I noticed the remaining wall came down suddenly and sadly enough, the boy was running towards the direction”.
Mrs. Nike Olanrewaju said, “I wanted to rescue the boy but unfortunately, I couldn’t”
Meanwhile, according to Mr. Aderemi Otunla, general secretary, Ifelodun Landlord Association, “no house is newer that 1973 in the said area and the building was not giving any sign whatsoever” he said.
Moreover, the family of the diseased’s father has immediately came to berry him to prevent his parent from seeing the corpse of their sons which is a taboo according to yoruba culture.
