The Mogaji (family head) of Iba Oluyole compound in Oja-Oba in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, Alhaji Nureni Akanbi on Sunday received eminent Ibadan indigenes at the 172nd memorial prayer for the great legend and founder of the 3rd Ibadan. Historically, Iba Oluyole was the then Garrison Commander of Ibadan army and liberator of the present day Ibadanland.
The program which was borne out of the decision by the entire family through the IBA OLUYOLE ‘N’ COUNCIL Branch, was ratified that there shall be periodic remembrance/ memorial (Triannual) in honour of their Progenitor (IBA OLUYOLE OF YORUBA) stating from 2017. The first was held on 28th January, 2017. But unfortunately the 2th edition could not be hold due to outbreak of Corona Virus pandemic.
Speaking at the event which was graced by former Deputy Governor of Oyo State and other eminent Ibadan indigenes, Alhaji Nureni thanked those who attended saying: “it’s of great essence to thank almighty God for it protection upon us. I am particularly grateful for what the family has been able to achieve within the past years”.
