Eminent citizen of Oyo State and public intellectual, Prince Adetayo Adekunle has felicitated with the Chief Judge of Oyo State, Hon. Justice M. L. Abimbola, on his appointment as a Life Bencher by the Body of Benchers.
In a statement released in Abuja over the weekend, Adekunle described the appointment of Justice Abimbola as “well deserved considering his landmark achievements as the Chief Judge of Oyo State from August 2014 till date”.
Continuing, Adekunle commended the Body of Benchers for making the right choice in the appointment of Justice Abimbola. He noted that the elevation of the Chief Judge of Oyo State to the rank of a Life Bencher is “a testament to Abimbola’s integrity, credibility and outstanding performance”.
Abimbola, who is well on his way to becoming the longest serving Chief Judge in the history of Oyo State, was appointed a Life Bencher alongside 11 others on September 15, 2020 by the Body of Benchers, the highest body in Nigeria’s legal profession.
Others who were equally honored with the rank are Attorney General of the Federation, Mr Abubakar Malami, Justice A. G. Mshelia, Presiding Justice of the Court of Appeal, Jos; Justice Suleiman Kawu, Chief Judge of Kwara State; Justice P. O. Nnadi, Chief Judge of Imo State; Kaka Shehu Lawan, Attorney-General of Borno State; Uwemedimo Nwoko, Attorney-General of Akwa Ibom State; Mr. Sulaiman Usman, Attorney-General of Sokoto State; Mr. Francis Chuka Agbu SAN, NBA Representative at the Body of Benchers; Chief Ferdinand Orbih SAN, NBA Representative at the Body of Benchers; Dr. T. C. Osanakpo SAN, NBA Representative at the Body of Benchers, and Mr. Joe Agi SAN who has been a bencher prior before now.
