•Says Makinde, Ajimobi and him are brothers, politics can’t divide them

From Taiwo Oluwadare, Ibadan

The immediate former commissioner for Health in Oyo State and Governorship aspirant under the flagship of All Progressive Congress, APC in 2019, Dr. Azeez Adeduntan has said choosing Chief Adebayo Adelabu as governorship candidate of APC in the last election responsible for monumental loss of APC to People’s Democratic Party, PDP in the state.

Adeduntan who stated this during a press conference with journalists on Saturday at his office in Alakia, Ibadan to inform general public of his appointment as Otun Bashorun of Ibadanland, by Olubadan of Ibadanland, averred that Adelabu is an arrogant politician who have little or no experience in politics.

According to Adeduntan, Adelabu supposed to seek involvements of his co-contestants at the primary but his arrogance made him felt he could win the governorship election with the only assistance of former governor Abiola Ajimobi.

Reacting to insinuation that he has joined PDP, a reason he congratulated Governor Seyi Makinde, Adeduntan said he is still in APC saying Makinde is his brother from same compound in Oja-Oba, saying congratulating him has nothing to do with currying favour from him or joining PDP.

He said he is only interested in making impact in polity of the state, a reason he joined politics which was accidental, adding that nobody can pay him in Nigeria maintaining that a surgery he performs in USA fetches him nothing less than $20,000.

He added that he is still in cordial relationship with Fmr. Governor Ajimobi saying that he has learnt his mistakes in the last election. He noted that disunity in APC enabled PDP to take power.

He said: “For those that forgot that I contested along side some aspirants during the 2019 governorship election on the platform of APC should recall that I did not lose in the primary election but was illegally and unconstitutionally denied the right to contest even when it was all over that my good people of Oyo State will cast their votes for me as their preferred governorship candidate, but some leaders of the party did the bidding of their pay master.

“There was also no APC primary in Oyo State on September 30, 2018 but an imposition of a wrong candidate.

“The consequences of that failure of leadership led to monumental failure of APC at the governorship , senatorial and state assembly and even presidential elections showing that he who sows wind shall reap the whirlwind and that God Almighty is God of justice and will always vindicate the just”, he stated.

Speaking on his chieftaincy title, Adeduntan said the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji will on November 2, 2019 confer on him the title of Otun Bashorun of Ibadanland, saying with heart of gratitude, he accepts the honour and therefore promise to continually contribute to the advancement of Ibadanland and Oyo State in general.
