The wife of Oyo State, Mr. Florence Ajimobi on Thursday empowers not fewer than one thousand women artisans in the state to commemorates Valentine’s day in Ibadan, the state capital.
The women artisans were empowered with tailoring machine, generating set, hairdressing machines, grinding machines and other working tools for women in the state. Other Five hundred women were also given food items.
Speaking at the occasion, Mrs. Ajimobi said the empowerment is not basically to campaign but to show love to the women folks in the state and as well give back to the society as a way to make women to be financially independent.
Mrs. Ajimobi maintained that this is not the first time her office showing this gesture noting that the state government at some points didn’t do empowerment because of short allocation to the state. She added that her office continues with the empowerment programs now that the state government has settled all the backlog salaries of civil servants in the state.
Also speaking, the state governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi thanked his wife for her usual philanthropic gestures especially to women and children in the state.
He said: “My wife is very supportive both to me, women and children in Oyo State. She is as well prayerful and that is reflected in the peaceful atmosphere in the state. Her prayers with women in the state are answered because throughout our journeys during our sojourn in office, there’s no cause for accident and no death recorded.
“Her philanthropic gestures are quite commendable and her roles both at public and private life are more than six women. This is the reason I have no reason to marry another wife because she’s incomparable”, he said.
On reason he chose Adebayo Adelabu as his worthy successor, Governor Ajimobi said ” Adelabu is my child and I mean he possesses my characters and the reason he is worthy to become my successor in office.
“I observe all contenders for Oyo State governorship seat, they are not capable except Adelabu. I chose Adelabu, not because I want him to obey me but because he has fear of God and he is intelligent.
