The All Progressives Congress (APC), chieftain, Chief Niyi Akintola on Tuesday revealed that the former Oyo State Governor is technically the leader of the party.
Akintola added that contrary to popular view that there is leadership vacuum in the state chapter of the party, Akala is presumed to be the leader.
The legal luminary stated this at the monthly breakfast meeting of the South West Group of Online Publishers, SWEGOP.
He said: “Articles 11 and 12 of our party constitution have stated it clearly. In case there is no former governor, former governor, former deputy, ex-senate president, ex-reps speaker, ex-assembly speaker, ex-assembly deputy speaker are members of the Board of Trustees at the state level. The state executives report to them.
“But unfortunately, we have never had something like that before. Being the only former governor in the state, Alao-Akala is technically the leader of the party in the state. I am also a member of the committee being a former deputy speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly.”
