The Asoju Oba of Orile llawo Kingdom, Chief Dr Adeshina Kadri has felicitated the Olubadan-designate, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja (ARUSA 1) on his ascension to the throne as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.
In a congratulatory message sent to The monarch titled ‘A New Dawn for Ibadan: Coronation, Peace, and Prosperity’ Ambassador Kadri who is also the Chairman/Founder Shina Kadri Foundation Ambassador, Institute for Peace and Economics prayed that his reign will be marked by wisdom, unity,
and enduring prosperity for all.
“As Ibadan celebrates the coronation of its new Olubadan, we mark not only a ceremonial transition but also a powerful opportunity to shape the destiny of our great city. The Olubadan throne, steeped in tradition and revered across Yorubaland, holds immense influence-not only in cultural matters but also in shaping the socio-economic trajectory of Ibadan.
“As an Ambassador of the Institute for Peace and Economics, I respectfully encourage our new monarch to view this pivotal moment as an opportunity to prioritize initiatives that promote peace and foster economic inclusion, with particular emphasis on empowering our youth. Their vitality and aspirations represent our most valuable and underutilized assets, and their development is crucial for the sustained progress of our society.
Speaking further, He noted that “Africa faces a critical juncture in its
development trajectory. Over the past thirty years, the continent has achieved significant improvements in the health and education sectors. However, economic
growth has not kept pace, especially in sub
Saharan Africa. Despite the population doubling to 1.5 billion, per capita income has declined when compared to global standards. This phenomenon, often described as “growth without prosperity,” is particularly evident in urban areas such as Ibadan, where young people’s rising expectations are frequently unmet by available opportunities. Research indicates that sustainable social progress depends heavily on the strength of institutions, low levels of corruption, and a conducive business environment.
“The Olubadan, a traditional leader and custodian of cultural heritage, can play a vital role in addressing
these challenges. By promoting inclusive policies and encouraging youth entrepreneurship, the Olubadan can help foster economic resilience and social stability, steering the city toward a more prosperous future.
He also opined that the coronation be remembered not only for its grandeur but also for its legacy. By promoting peace and economic prosperity, the Olubadan can help Ibadan become a model city-where tradition fuels innovation, and where every young person has a stake in the future. As a proud son of Ibadan land, I stand ready to support this vision, offering insights and partnerships that can turn Ibadan’s youth boom into a wealth boom.
” I therefore extend my heartfelt congratulations to His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja (Arusa 1), a statesman of great repute, former Governor of Oyo State, and former Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“May his reign be marked by wisdom, unity,
and enduring prosperity for all.
