ASUP Commends Governor Makinde for Constituting Governing Councils, Welcomes New TOPS Council

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), The Oke-Ogun Polytechnic, Saki (TOPS) chapter, has expressed deep appreciation to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State for the constitution and inauguration of Governing Councils (GC) across all state-owned tertiary institutions, including TOPS.

In a letter of appreciation dated May 23, 2025, and jointly signed by the union’s Chairman, Comrade L.O. Ajiboye, and Secretary, Comrade W.A. Olanite, ASUP praised the governor for his timely action, describing it as a critical step toward enhancing governance and development in the state’s tertiary education sector.

The union also extended a warm welcome to the newly inaugurated Governing Council of TOPS, chaired by Dr. Bisi Ojebola. Other council members include Mrs. Mojisola Oluwafunmilayo Ajayi, Mrs. Bose Morakinyo, Mr. Adeyanju Noah Olusola, Hon. Olajide Olusina Olatoye, and Mr. Mudasir Niyi Salam.

“The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, The Oke-Ogun Polytechnic, Saki chapter wishes to express our sincere gratitude to you for the timely constitution and inauguration of Governing Councils for all the tertiary institutions in Oyo State, including TOPS,” the letter stated.

The union also congratulated Governor Makinde ahead of the sixth anniversary of his administration, highlighting key achievements under both Omituntun 1.0 and 2.0 initiatives. These include statewide road infrastructure, improved healthcare delivery, and enhanced welfare for citizens.

“Our union is proud to identify with your result-oriented administration and wishes you more successful feats across all sectors,” the letter noted.

ASUP further prayed for the success of the new TOPS Governing Council, expressing confidence in their ability to elevate the institution’s status and academic excellence under the leadership of Dr. Ojebola.
