The Chairman of MVB, the leading support group of Atiku Abubakar’s Presidential Camping Organization in Oyo State, Hon. Babatunde Adedayo, has congratulated the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sen. Iyorchia Ayu on his 70th birthday anniversary.
Babatunde, in a statement personally signed, and made available to the press on Monday, joined Ayu’s family, friends, political associates and members of PDP to rejoice with the elder statesman on the auspicious occasion.
“I congratulate our National Chairman, Sen. Iyorchia Ayu on the occasion of his 70th birthday.
Iyorchia Ayu who taught sociology in the University of Jos in Plateau State, including courses on the art and science of Marxism, and was the Chairman of the Jos University chapter of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). Now the current Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Working Committee. A former Nigerian Senator, he was elected President of the Senate during the Nigerian Third Republic (1992–1993). He later served in various ministerial positions in the Cabinet of President Olusegun Obasanjo between 1999 and 2007.
During this time, he has played significant roles in the political development of our country through active participation in drafting the Constitutions, political party formation at various times in our history.
“And since taking the party Chairman, he has again been proving his mettle as an effective leader in this critical stage of the political process of our country.
“I pray that God will continue to strengthen him and endow him with good health to continue to chart the right course for our party and Nigeria in general,” Babatunde said.
He wishes Sen. Iyorchia Ayu a happy birthday and many happy returns of the day.
