A professor of soil sciences at the Federal University, Oye Ekiti (FUOYE) who has also served as the Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration at the University, Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina has been announced as the new Vice Chancellor of the institution.
Fasina is succeeding the out going VC , Prof Kayode Soremekun who had served the University with immense patriotism.
According to a press stat mention made available on Wednesday evening by FUOYE’s Deputy Director, Corporate Affairs, Adeyinka Ademuyiwa, the University’s Governing Council announced Fasina as new VC after a needing that ended the process leading to the appointment of the new VC.
The statement reads in part: “… Pro Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Dr Mohammed Lawan Yahuza said, ” today Wednesday January 6, 2020 brings to an end a very long and tuitious process of getting a new VC for FUOYE’. He noted that the process started last year. ‘ At a time we made a mistake the retired astute administrator from the Federal Ministry of Health admitted, stressing that those mistakes needed to be corrected. The Pro Chancellor further noted that the appointment of a new Vice Chancellor has brought with it rancour and acrimony to the campus and outside it advising that by this appointment, all these should stop.
The Chairman then advised all applicants to sheath their swords and join the new Vice Chancellor to build the University. Dr Yahuza thanked the out going Vice Chancellor, Prof Kayode Soremekun for finishing well noting that the outgoing Vice Chancellor passed through very difficult situation.

Dr Yahuza appreciated members of the Governing Council for their commitment, doggedness and thoroughness. “I want to put on record my appreciation for your support and understanding”, he said after presenting Prof Fasina his letter of appointment in the presence of all council members and external consultant, Alhaji Sule Dauda.”
