Gunmen allegedly sponsored by some stalwarts of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday killed a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), named Kazeem, also known as Kekere Pasuma in Apomu, in Isokan Local Govermment of Osun state.
This is coming a day after the state Governor wife was attacked by suspected hoodlums.
It was gathered that the deceased who was the Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers NURTW has being receiving series of death threats since the conclusion of the governorship election.
An eyewitness who pleaded anonymity revealed that the incident happened at about 8:30pm very close to RCM Missionary House in Apomu.
“They arrived the area shooting sporadically in to the air with everybody running for their lives.
“When they got close to a filling station, they came down from the car, shot at Kekere Pasuma and picked up his body, placed it in the car and left with it”, the source said.
A family source revealed that some member of the NURTW who were working with the PDP had been threatening him to step down as the Chairman of the union and they had notified security agencies.
“This is the handiwork of PDP leaders in Apomu, they have said it before.
“They have been threatening to kill Kekere if he doesn’t step down since the election was over.
“We took the matter up, reported to security agencies and the palace even intervened.
“Last week, they had a meeting with where everybody was present and they resolved that the matter be taken to the state since Kekere was elected as the Chairman and the state chapter is aware.
“Until yesterday evening when they came and shot Kekere and even went with his body, now we don’t know his condition if dead or alive”, the family source said.
