There was pandemonium in New garage area of Ibadan, Oyo State capital on Friday morning as policeman was reportedly killed by commercial drivers.
This was revealed on Fresh FM during a radio program, Oyato by Akinkunmi Alabi.
Fresh FM reporter, Samson Akindele revealed that the incident occurred after the commercial drivers refused to pay the police which led to an altercation.
It was reported that the traffic warden identified as Oloyo gave a commercial Micra driver a slap after he refused to give him bribe. The driver reportedly pretended that he fainted and this enraged other commercial drivers to swooped on the police which led to his death.
It was gathered on the radio program that a police died in the fracas that lasted till yesterday’s late evening. This according to report led to police invading the garage on Friday morning shooting sporadically and destroying commercial vehicles in the garage.
Meanwhile, commercial drivers who called on the radio program said no police man died noting that the man who spoke under condition of anonymity and who affirmed policeman died was a policeman trying to implicate the commercial drivers.
