The President General of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), Chief Sulaimon Ajeniyi Ajewole, has paid a high-level courtesy visit to the Olubadan-in-waiting, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, at his residence in Lagos, as part of the preparations for the monarch’s forthcoming coronation.
The visit underscores the unity and readiness of the Ibadan community, both at home and in the diaspora, to support a smooth and dignified transition of royal leadership following the recent passing of the 43rd Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin.
During the visit, Chief Ajewole conveyed the goodwill and loyalty of Ibadan sons and daughters to Oba Ladoja, emphasizing that the entire Ibadanland is solidly behind him as he prepares to ascend the ancient and revered throne.
He also used the occasion to dispel misleading reports circulating in some quarters about the monarch-in-waiting’s health. “Contrary to unfounded rumours, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja is hale, hearty, and in great physical and mental condition. He remains vibrant, clear-minded, and ready to serve the people of Ibadanland with the wisdom and dedication for which he is well known,” the CCII President-General affirmed.
Chief Ajewole praised the former Oyo State governor for his longstanding commitment to the growth and progress of Ibadan, describing him as a symbol of service and integrity whose leadership has positively impacted the city both in public office and as a cultural ambassador.
He further called on all Ibadan sons and daughters—across political, social, and generational divides—to rally together in unity and pride during this historic period. “Let us rise as one to celebrate our heritage and support the reign of Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, which we believe will bring renewed peace, unity, and prosperity to Ibadanland.”
Chief Ajewole concluded the visit with prayers for the continued peace and advancement of the ancient city, urging stakeholders—from traditional institutions to political leaders, youth organizations, and community groups—to support the coronation activities and embrace the shared vision of a greater Ibadan.
The formal coronation of Oba Rashidi Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland is expected to be a landmark event in the city’s history, signifying continuity, cultural pride, and a renewed commitment to collective progress.
