An Oyo state High Court sitting in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital has granted a preliminary injunction stopping Michael Okunlade as factional chairmen of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Oyo state respectively.
LiveTimesNG reports that Folahan Gabriel Oluyinka Michael Okunlade and Joe Abu are three factional chairmen produced by the party recent congresses in the state.
The court in a suit instituted by a factional chairman of the party in the state, Folahan Gabriel Oluyinka ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not to recognize the defendants, pending the time the court would determine their case.
In suit number 1/462/2022, the claimant joined the party, Social Democratic party (SDP), the national chairman of the party, Dr. Olu Agunloye, Michael Okunlade, Joe Abu and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as defendants.
The injection granted by the presiding judge, A.L Akintola reads in part; “the orders of interim injunction sought herein are hereby granted as prayed pending the hearing and determination of motion on notice for an order of interlocutory injunction already gil d in this case.
“Hearing of the motion on notice for the order of interlocutory injunction already filed in this case is adjourned till 25th May, 2022.”
Among the prayers of the complainant is seeking interim injunction restraining Micheal Okunlade and Joe Abu from parading themselves or performing functions of the state chairmen of the party pending the time the court will determine the suit.
