…says it violates pandemic protocol, threatens to deal with defaulters

From Kehinde Adewole

The Management of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), has warned a faction of the school’s local branch of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), against violating the Covid 19 protocol as laid down by the Federal Government by gathering in huge number to hold a Congress scheduled for Thursday, August 27 on the Oye campus of the institution.

A message, credited to ASUU local Vice-chairperson, Dr. Habibat Adubiaro had gone round among ASUU FUOYE members notifying them of a Congress scheduled to hold on August 27 at the new auditorium, faculty science of FUOYE.

But warning against such gathering, a circular from FUOYE’s office of the Registrar, signed by the Acting Registrar, Mugutau A. Ibrahim, said: “Reports reaching the University Management indicate that a faction of the FUOYE ASUU is planning to have its congress on Thursday, 27th August, 2020, at the New Auditorium, Faculty of Science. This is in clear violation of the COVID-19 protocols.

“Management, has therefore, directed that no Congress should take place in view of the ravaging COVID-19 pandemic. It should be noted that violators of this directive will be dealt with in line with the extant regulations. “
