The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested Dr. Mkor Aondona, a Special Adviser to the Benue State Governor on Documentation, Research, and Planning, over allegations of sextortion, cyberbullying, and blackmail.
Dr. Aondona was apprehended on Friday, June 20, by operatives from the EFCC’s Makurdi Zonal Command following multiple petitions filed by female university students.
According to the complaints, the senior aide allegedly lured slim, attractive female students under the guise of recruiting them for ushering jobs tied to government events. However, the petitioners claim he demanded sexual favors as a condition for selection.
More disturbingly, the EFCC said its preliminary findings indicate that Dr. Aondona secretly recorded the sexual encounters without the women’s consent. He then allegedly used the footage to blackmail the victims, threatening to publish the videos online if they refused further sexual advances.
“He said if we refused, he would release the videos,” one of the victims reportedly told investigators. Some of the explicit footage has already been circulated online, raising serious concerns about the victims’ safety and mental well-being.
The EFCC confirmed that Dr. Aondona is in custody and will face charges upon the conclusion of the investigation.
“All allegations of sextortion are taken very seriously. We are determined to ensure that justice is served,” the Commission’s spokesperson said.
