In a statement marking the occasion, Governor Makinde called on the faithful to use the opportunity of the sacred festival to offer more prayers for the state, the nation, and its leaders. He described Eid-el-Kabir—also known as Eid Adha—as a significant moment of worship, sacrifice, and dedication to God.
The governor expressed his gratitude to the Muslim community for their unwavering support and prayers throughout his administration. He also reaffirmed his commitment to putting the people’s interests first as his administration enters its seventh year.
“I congratulate my Muslim brothers and sisters in Oyo State and across the world on the celebration of Eid-el-Kabir 2025,” Makinde said.
“This festival is not only a time of celebration but also an opportunity for reflection, sacrifice, and deepened devotion to God. I appreciate the steadfast support and prayers of the Muslim community, which have greatly contributed to the progress of our state.
“I urge them to continue to pray for this administration, which has served the people diligently for the past six years, delivering sustainable development across sectors. With your continued support, we will do even more.”
The governor also called on residents to remain vigilant during the festivities and to cooperate with security agencies to ensure a safe celebration.
“Security is a shared responsibility. If you see something, say something—and rest assured, the government will act.”
He concluded his message with a festive greeting: “Barka de Sallah.”
