From WOLE BALOGUN
The Chief of Staff to the Governor of Ekiti State Hon. Biodun Omoleye has called on workers at the local government to demonstrate positive attitude to work in order ensure the local government fulfil the mandate of grassroots development.
Hon Omoleye also charged top government functionaries at the local government to enforce the principles, rules and regulations guiding the conduct of workers in the council.
Omoleye gave the charge during an unscheduled visit to Ijero Local Government Council secretariat earlier in the week.
The Chief of Staff, who disclosed that there would be regular visit to local government secretariats across the State, expressed concern at the lackadaisical attitude of some workers, many of whom were yet to report for work, while some were loitering during the time of his visit.
He said, “I must confess my observation is shocking as I found out that today being the very first working day of the week and with the information in the media that the governor will be visiting this local government I expect every staff of this local government to be at his or her desk but what I found was shocking as most staff were not found in the office.
“We are going to device a means for the field officers to do a proper monitoring of those field staffers because the information reaching me even now is that most of the field staffers do not go to work”
Omoleye who paid the visit shortly after the visit of Governor Kayode Fayemi to the Local Government said he was in the local government to ascertain the working environment of workers in the council, assess their attitude to work, and see to the welfare and general well being of Staff at the council.
Omoleye who explained he was in the Council to perform an oversight function, asked Heads of department in the council not to condone laziness and negligence to work, even as he charged them to ensure that the working environment is kept clean all the time.
