Family of Kabirat Sobola, a 22-year-old lady, who was allegedly killed by her boyfriend, Akeem Kabiru, has asked the police to go after all those involved in her death.
The lady was found dead in her room with knife cuts on her neck and other parts of her body.
The police apprehended Kabiru after he was suspected to be involved in the murder.
Kehinde Sobola, the victim’s family spokesman, said three other accomplices in the murder had been released by the police.
The twin brother of the deceased’s father, said he was part of the team that discovered the corpse of the girl in her room.
He claimed that 26-year-old Kabiru, who was held up by the police and apprehended in a custodial centre, had accomplices.
The victim’s uncle said that two of Kabirat’s friends were suspected to be involved in the killing.
Kehinde also complained that a herbalist and a cleric, whom the prime suspect sent the picture of the deceased to, is yet to be arrested.
He said he was at the police station when the prime suspect told the police that he sent the deceased’s picture to the duo.
“We want the government to step in, make sure that justice is done, and make the necessary inquiries. Justice must be served against those accountable for Kabirat’s demise”, he continued.
The family’s fears were allayed by SP Abimbola Oyeyemi of the Ogun State Police Public Relations, who also said that the homicide department of the police had taken charge of the situation.
However, the PPRO advised the family against accusing the innocent. “We have not released any suspects,” he declared.
“The suspect is being held in a jail. The situation involves a murder. It is an important one. Because it will take a long time for an innocent person to establish their innocence, we cannot simply arrest everyone,” he concluded.
