The peaceful atmosphere was disrupted as pandemonium broke out at WOCDIF Event Centre, Osogbo, Osun state, venue of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Southwest zonal congress on Monday evening.
The incident occurred around 6:45pm when some suspected hoodlums advanced towards the gate of the event centre where the congress was taking place in an attempt to invade the premises.
Ex-Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state was about to leave the venue at about the time the hoodlums attempted to invade the premises.
The mission of the suspected hoodlums either to just disrupt the exercise or attack any particular person could not be ascertained as at the time of filing the report.

However, security operative repelled the invasion through the quick intervention of Osun Commissioner of Police, Olawale Olokode and other officers.
The security operatives shot sporadically to the air to scare away the hoodlums but they were seen in their large numbers outside the gate of the event centre.
To prevent any unforseen situation, security operatives had to whisk Fayose away in a black tinted jeep unhurt.
As the jeep drove out, gunshot from the suspected hoodlums were heard from different directions.
Meanwhile, in a viral social media video obtained by Corenews.ng, the Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee of the Oyo State Park Management System (PMS), Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi also known as Auxiliary was heard raining curses on Fayose.
In the video, Auxillary who was flanked by stern looking men, all on black outfit said they had brought Fayose casket to the town, adding that he must acknowledge his boss.
