Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has recorded another success in academic development as the institution gets accreditation of the National Universities Commission (NUC) to continue running 19 academic programmes in the facultiies of science, Management Sciences, Education, Social Sciences, and Arts.
The huge success in the accreditation excerise was recorded from the October/November 2019 assessment conducted by the NUC on the infrastructural and academic facilities made available by the institution’s Prof. Kayode Soremekun led Management for effective teaching and research.
Pleased with the level of FUOYE’s preparedness and development in providing learning facilities as well as qualified academic personnel for the programmes in focus, the NUC in a letter dated March 19, 2020, sent to the school Management and signed by the Commission’s Director of Accreditation for the Executive Secretary, Dr. Maryam Sali, listed 19 academic programmes which have been accredited.
According to the NUC, the academic programmes accredited for FUOYE include four programmes in the faculty of Social Sciences which are Criminology and Security Studies, Mass Communication, Peace and Conflict Resolutions, and Political Science.
For FUOYE’S faculty of Management Sciences, the NUC accredited four academic programmes, i.e Accounting, Banking and Finance, Business Administration and Public Administration. In Arts faculty, the Commission accredted History and International Studies and Linguistics while it also accredited eight academics programmes for the faculty of Education which are Business Education, Education Agriculture Science, Education Biology, Education Chemistry, Education English, Education Mathematics, Education Management and Library and Information Science. Geology also received accreditation by the NUC in FUOYE’s Faculty of Science.
While other academic programmes had full accreditation for five years, Criminology and Security studies, Business Administration, Accounting, Education Mathematics, and Library and Information Science were given interim accreditation for two academic years.
