Another case of extrajudicial killing and police brutality has been reported in Ekiti, where a Nigerian Police officer shot two citizens, leaving one dead and one other critically injured.
According to an eye-witness, Teejay (@TunjiAde_), he reported the incident via micro-blogging site, twitter.
He said: “Some of us were inside the bar watching football. Some guys don’t bother entering, they just stay outside to drink (you’ll see that from where that guy is). So, the policemen drove in, it was normal for a car to drive in! We just heard gunshot, we were running away already before.
“We realised it was the policemen attached to one man (seems it’s the owner of the hotel, ‘Queens court hotel’). We thought everything was fine, then we realised the bullet hit that guy by the side of the stomach and one man on the leg.
“One man was just complaining that the policemen have been warned severally to stop shooting to announce their presence when they enter the hotel. Seems it’s the practice of the policemen to shoot when they enter just to flex their muscles. The policemen we’re only trigger happy, they just felt like shooting bruh”
According to @TunjiAde_, the incident happened at Queen’s Court Hotel area, along Ikere-Ekiti Road, Ekiti State.
Also #Ekitiupdate says: “In Ado Ekiti yesterday, @PoliceNG officer shot two people at Queens Court Hotel area, along Ikere-Ekiti road.
“One (Kush) died while the second person, Idris Ismaila Adebayo was critically injured and receiving treatment in a hospital.
@EkitiUpdate added that the Police Officer involved with the shooting has been identified as Tizhe Goji attached to a yet-to-be identified VIP.
But TVC has however reported that, the Policeman has been arrested and detained.
“The policemen involved in this unfortunate case have been arrested and will be brought to an orderly room trial tomorrow. If found guilty/dismissed, they will immediately face criminal prosecution”, TVC reports.
Also one Akin Oyebode said: “the deceased, “KUSH” has been identified as “Olaoye Abayomi”.
“Abayomi was heavily involved with the recent ENDSARS protests”, Oyebode says.
