The Management of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), has debunked a fake list of school fees currently going viral on the social media and which picture is attached below.
This was contained in a press statement jointly signed by university’s Public Relation Officer, Foluso Ogunmodede and Special Adviser on Media Matters to the VC, Wole Balogun.
The statement reads: “The management wishes to alert the members of the public that the fees stated therein have not originated from the management of the institution and was never approved by it.
“The fake list of fees is tagged : “Internal memo, this is to inform all student(sic) the amount of school fee payeable (sic) for 2020/2021 academic session”, and stating its fake fees, it reads in part: ” Freshers, Arts, social science, management science and education sundry feess, 130,500

“Members of the public and particularly our teeming internet savvy prospective students and undergraduates of FUOYE are warned to ignore this fake list with the foregoing fake fees.
“We wish to state that the fake list is also full of spelling errors which partly exposed it as a ploy by internet fraudsters and scammers who are hell bent on defrauding unsuspecting students of FUOYE.
“We also wish to state further that the fake list was designed by these fraudsters and scammers who could have created a fraudulent means on the internet with which to syphon the funds that unsuspecting members of the public would be making into the source they indicated on the fake list, which is a bank draft in favour of FUOYE through the Wema bank.
“For the avoidance of doubt, FUOYE does not collect any payments with bank draft. ALL PAYMENTS are made through the remita platform in line with the financial regulations of the federal government of Nigeria. More importantly, the amount payable by each student, new and old, is auto-generated by the University portal upon the provision of required information by the students.
“Members of the public, prospective students of FUOYE and stalites are hereby SERIOUSLY WARNED not to fall victims of the plot and antics of these scammers as the University Management WILL not recognize any bank draft or document from the source they qouted in their fake list”, the statement reads.
