…as staff eulogizes VC for activating admission qouta for biological children, FUOYE qualifies for high institutions football league

Students of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), who became indigent students by either sudden death of their parents or guardians and some other factors such as poverty or health issues arising from accidents, health hazards among others, have received insurance packages in form of school fees to enable them complete their education.
The beneficiaries of the scheme who were greatly excited after receiving checks of their school fees, praised the Vice-Chancellor, (VC) Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina and other members of the Management team for making their dreams to become University graduates come true in spite of their incapabilities.
A statement by the Special Adviser to the VC on Media Matters, Wole Balogun, on Thursday disclosed that the excited students who expressed great joy and surprise on receiving checks of N125, 000 each to pay up their school fees, eulogized Prof. Fasina and other members of Management for sustaining their dreams for a better future.
The statement added that,l staff members of FUOYE also jubilated on Wednesday on receiving notice from the Management that the VC had approved a proposal for special consideration for biological children of the staff members to get admissions into the University’s academic programmes.
Also, the press statement disclosed that FUOYE has increased her visibility among the comity of tertiary institutions by qualifying for the High lnstitutions Football League (HIFL) which pre-seasion matches kicked off on Monday between FUOYE football team and Bridgewaters’ football club, owned by Oye-Ekiti born philanthropist, Segun Oke.
According to the statement, the Dean of FUOYE Students’ Affairs, Prof. Dosu Malomo introduced the insurance scheme for the students as the NICCON insurance package, which in his words, is: “a special policy to cater for students who suddenly lose their parents or guardian responsible for funding their education.”
Prof. Malomo added that: “Such students will on submission of relevant documents, be screened for the claims of about N125,000 each. The funds are sourced from the premium of N1,000 paid by all students each session.”
“Equally, some truly indigent students may be considered for some funds from NICCON Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) subject to the population of school and decision of NICCON Management.
“The criteria for qualifying for the package included earlier payment of the N1000 premium along with school fees, losing a parent or guardian and or the parent or guardian becoming fatally Injured to a state of permanent disability.”
Prof. Malomo further disclosed that over 100 students of FUOYE have benefited since the introduction of the scheme while the latest beneficiaries are 25 students of the institution. He added that the policy is real and payment of claims is within 14 days.”
Advising the generality of FUOYE students on the NICCON insurance scheme, Prof. Malomo said: “Students should support the programme and if possible step up the premium to enable the beneficiaries to get more than double of current rate of N125, 000.
Students should also note that very serious health challenges are not captured in the scheme and they include, cancer, liver issue, and kidney issues among others.
And also cultism related injuries or deaths are not captured too. Students should also note that the University frowns strongly against abuse of drugs on campus.”

In yet another development, Prof. Malomo revealed that FUOYE has qualified for the High lnstitutions Football League (HIFL). He said: “FUOYE is in Group D for 2021 Competition. Group D will be playing at UNIBEN Sports Complex. FUOYE’s First match will come up on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 in Benin. The pre-season matches began on Monday with FUOYE vs Bridgewater’s 4:2 in favour of FUOYE. It continues on Thursday with FUOYE versus Ekiti State University (EKSU).
While lauding the VC for fulfilling his promise to make staff welfare and well-being a top priority of his administration, FUOYE Director of Top-Up programes, Dr. Olaide Ahmed, said: “This is the first time in the history of FUOYE that the official memo on the admission request of staff’s biological children will be issued.
Millions of kudos to our magnanimous VC.The VC that is full of action. He is gradually fulfilling the promises he made during his inauguration. Welfare of staff is his priority. Most of FUOYE staff are now parking their cars at home and enjoying the comfort of FUOYE bus tagged “Fasina bus by the staff” to and fro Ado – Oye axis.
