The Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), is offering very affordable vocational trainings in skills that youngsters and adults could acquire and become self-reliant in a bid to contribute to the socio-economic development and well-being of the nation.
FUOYE, through her Centre for Enterprenurialship Development, Innovation and Support Services (CEDISS), will from August 1 to August 27, 2021, embark on a four-week vocational training for teenagers in secondary schools and those awaiting admission into tertiary Institutions. The students would be trained in such enterprenurial skills as Hair Dressing, Barbing, Hats and Beads Making, Events Design and Decoration, Soap Making , Hand Sanitizers, Perfurme, Cedtol, cedzal, Confectionaries, Tie and Dye and Shoe-making. The special training programme is tagged; ‘Creativity Summer classes’ as it aims primarily to engage and stimulate the creative prowess of trainees for productive and innovative ventures.
A statement made available to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday by Wole Balogun, the Special Adviser to the Vice-Chancellor (VC) on Media Matters, disclosed that the Creativity Summer classes will commence from August 1 and run till August 27 from 10am to 3pm, and from Mondays to Thursdays.

Creativity Summer classes was made available to the media office of the Vice-Chancellor by the Director, CEDISS, FUOYE, Dr. Oluremi Abimbola in a statement he signed.
The statement reads in part: “The Centre for Enterprenurialship Development, Innovation and Support Services (CEDISS) of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti is an extension of Enterprenurial development programme to give oppurtunity to young people, children of FUOYE staff and interested young adults within Oye-Ekiti and its environs to discover, develop and showcase their enterprenurial potentials.
“To keep the learners engaged during the summer and to inculcate in them enterprenurshial skills and the need to be self-reliant during and after graduation.
“Available courses are Hair Dressing, Barbing, Hats and Beads Making, Events Design and Decoration, Soap Making , Hand Sanitizers, Perfurme, Cedtol, cedzal, Confectionaries, Tie and Dye and Shoe-making.”
Speaking further, the Director clarified that: “The programmes are for secondary school students on vacation, young people waiting for admission and any other aspiring young adults who desires to be self-employed.”
Dr. Abimbola said the lectures and practicals for the training are scheduled from Mondays to Thursdays, from 10am to 3pm daily. Training fee is N5000, and training is open for would-be trainees within the ages of 7-12, as well as 13 – 18 years old.
He urged interested candidates and/ or their parents or guardians to please forward names and evidence of payment for nominees on or before July 20, 2021 to the Coordinator, 2021 Creativity Summer school, CEDISS Unit, FUOYE.
