…urges them to keep hope alive

Vice-Chancellor, Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Prof. Sunday Abayomi Fasina, has felicitated with the staff members and students of the University
on the occasion of the 63rd Independence anniversary, urging them
to keep hope alive as the future of the nation shall be brighter.
Prof. Fasina in a statement through his Special Adviser on Media Matters, Wole Balogun, said though Nigeria has been through tough times since her independence was gained on October 1, 1960 , there is every reason to rejoice on a day such as today that the nation clocks 63rd because there have been success stories, especially with the nation’s sustenance of democratic culture In leadership for over 24 years now.
The statement reads in part: “ l felicitate with the staff and students of our great University on this occasion of national joy and celebration, the 63rd birthday anniversary of our great country, Nigeria.
“Indeed, the journey of 63 years has been quite challenging but we have had many reasons to rejoice and celebrate and most importantly, keep hope alive for the future promises to be brighter.
“The attainment of democratic governance and its sustenance for over 24 years now is an achievement the nation should be grateful for. In spite of experienced thorns on our path, we have equally recorded many successes in virtually all areas of our lives.
“The fact that Nigeria has remained together in spite of our overwhelmingly heterogeneous nature is a proof that we have not gained independence in vain and that in togetherness, we shall be greater!
“While l rejoice with all Nigerians and particularly the staff and students of our great University, l pray that the Almighty God shall continue to give us the right direction, wisdom, guidance and blessings to attain greater heights and succeed as a nation in all ramifications, amen.
