The former Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Barr. Hazeem Gbolarumi has cautioned the G5 governors to soft pedal in the agitation for the removal of Iyorchia Ayu as National Chairman of People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Gbolarumi who is the Oyo State coordinator for Atiku Abubakar campaign Organization stated this on Saturday during a Radio Program at Agidigbo FM titled Bose Nlo Extra by Ajibola Akinyefa.
According to him, the agitation by G5 is right but the goal of the party now is to win the presidential election come February next year saying the right time to seek Ayu’s removal as chairman is after the election and not during the heat of the electioneering period.
He said: “Politics is about interest because everyone desire a position but when a person wins the position, others should accept and support the winner. But trying to protest and attempt to destabilize whole thing is too bad. G5 has turned themselves to God because God chose Atiku and made his presidential candidacy possible.
“PDP as political party made G5 as governors and they can’t be above the party and there is nothing wrong in their agitation but they are overdoing it. We don’t say Ayu can’t leave as party chairman but should be after election which is the ultimate goal of the party. I will say there is an ulterior motive behind agitation by G5 governors.
“They don’t have good advisers and they should remember they will soon become former governors and they should not block ways for Atiku pursue his presidential ambition”, Gbolarumi says.
