Former Deputy governor and PDP Chieftain in Oyo State, H. E. Alhaji Hazeem Gbolarumi, mourned the death of Akinyele, and commiserate with the family.

Gbolarumi, in a statement signed on Tuesday evening by his Special Assistance on Media, Olaniyi Stephen, described late Chief Olusola Abimbola Akinjide as a patriotic Nigerian who will be remembered for his roles in the development of Oyo State. As a true face of Yoruba nation and Nigeria, who genuinely fought for the unity of the country and, his lifetime did his best.

“He was a symbol of hope for the present generation, the coming one, the one yet unborn and, he will be remembered for his humility, dedication to duty and as an incorruptible leader who left an enviable legacy for all to learn lessons from.” he said.

Late Chief Osuolale Abimbola Richard Akinjide, who was a SAN, lawyer, politician, and former Minister of Justice between 1979 -1983.

He was a former minister of education in the government of Prime Minister Tafawa Balewa during the second republic and the minister for Justice in the administration of President Shehu Shagari. He was a member of the judicial systems sub-committee of the Constitutional Drafting Committee of 1975-1977 and later joined the National Party of Nigeria in 1978. He became the legal adviser for the party and was later appointed the Minister for Justice.

Gbolarumi said, even in death, the fond memories and indelible strides Chief Akinjide left on earth will be celebrated for a long time. I remember a cerebral Nigerian who excelled in his private dealings, professional endevours and public service. “The Oyo State has indeed lost a competent, trusted, loyal, and knowledgeable Son.

He called on Oyo populace to pray to the Almighty to grant the family the needed unity that would sustain the legacies he left behind.
