A factional member of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Hon. Taofeek Abiola Olopade has emerged candidate in Oluyole Federal Constituency during the re-run primary election held on Monday.
Olopade who belong to Barr. Hazeem Gbolarumi’s faction declared as winner who will be representing Oluyole Federal Constituency in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.
LiveTimesNG earlier reported that primary elections in Oluyole Local Government was suspended indefinitely due to two different delegate lists emanated from two factions of Former Deputy Governor of the state, Barr. Hazeem Gbolarumi and incumbent governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde.
This online medium also gathered that chaos erupted which later led to indefinite postponement of the primaries. But today, Hon. Olopade emerged winner in the rerun election held on Monday.
LiveTimesNG also reported that on April 30, 2022, PDP held ward congresses across the country ahead 2023 general elections.
The congresses was to elect the 3-man Ad-Hoc delegates who shall in turn elect Party candidates for the 2023 general elections.
In the report, it was gathered that faction belong to Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde didn’t partake in the exercise which made party members expressed fear that this may be an illicit plan by the governor to work with panel committee from national body of the political party to manipulate the outcome of the ward congress.
This is probably the reason two delegate lists emanated during the primary elections in the state.
