“And the soldiers likewise asked of him, saying, and what shall we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man , neither accuse any falsely; and be satisfied with your wages.
Luke 3:14.
Several years ago, an uncle of mine, in search of a greener pastures proceeded to the Northern part of Nigeria.
After trying his hands on some businesses, he finally joined the police force.
No family member heard from him for a long time till he finally show up one fateful day.
His mother, siblings, and relatives that should have welcome him with a party all took to their heels, running as fast as their legs could carry them, simply because he appeared in a police uniform!
“Don’t bring a curse to our family!” they were screaming and running.
John the baptist was announcing that the “axe” of God’s judgement was about to fall, and the scared audience was asking for a way out. To the uniform men amongst them, he said:
STOP THE VIOLENCE!
STOP THE FALSE ACCUSATIONS!
BE SATISFIED WITH YOUR SALARIES!
Authority intoxicates. Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Apart from the police, everyone in the place of authority should be mindful of God – the Highest Authority.
God’s axe of judgement is targeted at the root of the violent and the oppressors. They that are connected to such roots should speak the truth to their roots. In case yours is a corrupt system, and not a person, please run from a system that can ruin! God will surely take care of you.
They that have the power to do and undo should be careful what they do because their children might not be able to undo.
