Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has pledged to continue delivering his best for the people of the state despite the challenges they face.
During a ceremony held at the Governor’s Office in Ibadan, Makinde donated 28 buses to tertiary institutions in the state. Addressing the students, the governor acknowledged the tough times the country is going through but assured them that it would soon be over.
He expressed his commitment to providing the best for the state, acknowledging the hardship faced by the students and assuring them that relief was on the way. Makinde also announced that he had recently signed scholarship and bursary awards for 2024, emphasizing that the disbursement would be done transparently.
He urged the students to cooperate with their institution’s leadership and thanked them for their support since the start of his administration. Makinde highlighted that his political philosophy, embodied in “Omituntun,” had become a movement that would endure beyond his term. He revealed plans to revive his personal scholarship scheme, recognizing that the government alone could not meet all the needs.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Student Affairs, Victor Olojede, commended Makinde for the unprecedented donation of buses to all tertiary institutions in the state. Other student representatives echoed this sentiment and praised Makinde as the most student-friendly governor.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including the Deputy Governor, the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, and the Head of Service.
