The Enablers Diaspora Grassroots Support Outreach, a Non Governmental Organisation(NGO) has called on well-meaning Nigerians to join hands together with the government to put smiles on the need.
Its President, Mrs Ayoyinka Wilson, while speaking during the NGO fifth anniversary in Ibadan, decried the increasing suffering of the masses in every community.
Stating that the primary focus of the initiative was to help less-privilege in the society, Wilson charged Nigerians not to wait until they amass large wealth before they would start rendering help to the needy.
“We have poorest of the poor among us, we have to complement government efforts because government can not do everything,” she said.
According to her, as part of a week-long activities for the anniversary, the initiative is going to reach out to as many people as possible through medical and community outreach.
“We are taking the outreach to town and villages in Ekiti, Osun and Oyo state.
“During the outreach, people will have access to daily essentials such as food items and our medical team will be on ground to take care of their medical needs.
“The outreach will start on Monday at Ekiti and end on Friday at Kusella Village in Lagelu local government in Oyo state,” Wilson said.
Also speaking at the event, the Oyo State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr Wasiu Olatunbosun, said that the state government would to more to create conducive environment for NGOs to contribute to general wellbeing in the state.
“We are encouraging public private partnership in our programmes and projects execution so that everyone will contribute in growth and development of the state.
“Well meaning Nigerians in home and diaspora need to join hands with government to lift the needy, “he said.
The event featured health talk, awards presentation and cultural display among others.
