A group, Ibadan Warriors and Justice Arena (IWJA) on Friday commended the Olubadan of Ibadanland; Oba Lekan Balogun; Obas in Olubadan Advisory Council; Mogajis and Baales for acting in unison by suspending Mogaji Akinsola Oopo Labiran family, Olawale Oladoja for causing breach of peace in Akinyele council area of the city on Wednesday.
The Coordinator of the Group, Chief Adebisi Fagade, in a statement after the news rented the air that Mogaji Olawale Oladoja had been suspended for chasing away residents of about 200 households from their homes over a purported court order he secured against the landlords in the area, said such unruly behavior must not go unpunished.
Fagade reiterated that, “Ibadanland is a peaceful and egalitarian society where the Olubadan reigns supreme. The peace of the city was ruffled by Wale Oladoja unnecessarily last Wednesday.
“Such a medieval behavior and unguarded action likened to hooliganism and which is capable of precipitating violence should not go unpunished.
“The Kabiyesi Olubadan alongside his Obas-in-council who were awakened by the Association of Ibadan Mogajis under their President, Mogaji Asimiyu Ariori acted swiftly, justly and effectively to nib in the bud a matter capable of throwing the city into unnecessary chaos.
“The judgment and suspension of Wale Oladoja until further notice would serve as a deterrent to him and others found of flouting the rule and law of the land under the guise of protecting their family’s property.
“Again, the Ibadan Warriors and Justice Arena receives this news of his suspension with great excitement. We also use this opportunity to appeal to the Governor of our State, our brother and His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde to ostracize him do away with such individuals who daily hang around him to cause trouble in the city.
“His Excellency is a man of peace and should therefore refrain from associating with people like Wale Oladoja. He should be stripped of his political appointment too for the Kabiyesi Olubadan and all the traditional chiefs in Ibadan to see the Governor as a man who would never condole any nonsense,” Fagade added.
Earlier on Friday, the big hammer of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Balogun Alli Okunmade II fell on Olawale Oladoja, Mogaji Akinsola as he was suspended as Mogaji following his dastard activities in the Akinsola Village in Akinyele Local Government area of Oyo State.
The community came into limelight on Thursday following the clamping down on the residents of the community by the Mogaji Akinsola claiming that he had gotten court judgments to prove that the land upon which they built their houses was not legally sold to them.
It would be recalled that about 200 houses in the community under reference were on Wednesday put under lock and key and red- marked which he said was to prove his being in charge. The action threw the residents out of their houses, leading some of them to sleep in the open throughout the night following which they protested to the Olubadan Palace on Thursday.
The complaints and the public outcry that greeted the matter which trended on the internet led to the emergency meeting conveyed on Friday which had in attendance the Olubadan, some of the members of his Advisory Council, the representatives of Ibadan Mogajis led by Chief Asimiyu Adepoju Ariori, Mogaji Akinsola and the representatives of the residents and where the decision to suspend the Mogaji and other actions were taken.
