In a recent report gathered by a correspondent of the Vanguard Newspaper, how Omobolanle Raheem, a female barrister, was shot dead by a police officer was revealed.
According to the source, “the lawyer took her family to an eatery for Christmas celebration but was pursued and shot by the police.” The police officer responsible for this was however later confirmed by the Lagos state’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO); Supritendent Benjamin Hundeyin, to be an Assistant Supritendent of Police (ASP).
In Vanguard’s reports, the deceased barrister was attempting to make a U-turn before her breathe was cut-short by the police officer. Although efforts were made to rush her to a nearby hospital but they were in futility because she quickly gave up the ghost.
After the incident, the head of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has reacted noting that if justice does not prevail over the incident, they will not backpedal.
As it stands, the Lagos state’s Commissioner of Police has contacted the family of the deceased with an assurance that the culprit will be made to face the full wrath of law immediately investigations are concluded.
