The management of Fresh FM Nigeria and Yinka Ayefele Limited has confirmed the fire incident that gutted Music House, Challenge, Ibadan, Oyo State, on Friday evening, August 15, 2025.
In an official statement signed by Samson Akindele, Group Head of Corporate Affairs, the organization described the incident as a devastating loss, noting that the full extent of the damage is yet to be ascertained.
“We are sad to inform the general public that the Head Office of Fresh FM Nigeria, Challenge – Ibadan, was razed by a devastating fire incident this evening,” Akindele stated. “In the mishap, the studios of Fresh 105.9 FM and Blast 98.3 FM were badly burnt, alongside proximal offices including the newsroom, transmitter/server room, and several key equipment.”
The statement revealed that initial efforts by staff members to put out the fire with in-house extinguishers proved unsuccessful before the arrival of professional firefighters. The cause of the inferno remains unknown as at press time.
Akindele expressed deep gratitude to residents around the Music House, passersby, and officials of the Oyo State Fire Service, who assisted in combating the flames. He emphasized that the organization remains hopeful and committed to recovery despite the setback.
Meanwhile, ParrotXtra Media Network, publishers of ParrotXtra Magazine and PMParrotng.com, has sympathized with Dr. Yinka Ayefele over the multimillion-naira loss. In a condolence statement signed by Ambassador Olayinka Agboola, the incident was described as “extremely saddening.”
Agboola recalled Ayefele’s longstanding support for the media industry, noting his contributions during ParrotXtra Media Network’s 20th anniversary earlier this year. He prayed for divine provision and support from well-wishers to aid in the restoration of Music House.
“Despite this setback, we are confident that the forthcoming 10th anniversary of Fresh FM Nigeria will still record resounding success,” Agboola added, pledging ParrotXtra Media’s continued solidarity with Ayefele and his team.
