The President and Commander-In-Chief of the armed forces, Muhammadu Buhari today received families of Kaduna Train victims in Abuja.
Recall that on March 28, ISWAP terrorists attacked an Abuja-Kaduna train, killing some passengers and abducting scores. The terrorists have since been releasing some of the abducted victims in batches after their family members raised ransom to secure their release, while some of them are still in the kidnappers’ den.
The representatives of the families of the abducted train passengers told Buhari today that they do not have the amount of money the terrorists told them to bring before their loved ones can be released, and told the president to come to their rescue. The families of the victims were quoted saying that they know Buhari is trying his best for Nigerians, and that they will be excited if he is able to secure their release unhurt.
In his part, Buhari assured them that those still in captivity will soon reunite with their family members. He said he decided not to use military forces to rescue the abducted victims due to the collateral damage it may cause.
