The 25-year-old Fatima Abubakar, who has already been arrested by the Borno Police command, has explained that she poisoned the food of her husband, Goni Abbah, after coming from the mosque to kill him because she hated the fact that she was married.
Fatima explains that Mr. Goni Abbah was her second husband. She had been married to someone before but terminated the marriage because she hated married life. Goni Abbah also married me to be her second wife in 2021, and since then I have not been happy with myself that I am married.
There have been many times that I go back to my parents’ house and tell my parents that I want to terminate my marriage, but they will send me back to Goni and tell me to be patient and optimistic that everything will be fine.
Even when I gave birth to my child, I left the home to sleep in an uncompleted building. I slept there for 2 weeks before they got me back to him. Mr. Goni doesn’t treat me badly, but I just hate the fact that I am married. Anytime I remember that I am married, it pisses me off.
I went to the market and bought poison and put it in his food. I had already made up my mind to kill him, and when he came back from the mosque, he ate the food and died. I don’t know what is wrong with me. I don’t just want to get married. Even now, I don’t feel like I am the one that killed him.
