The Senatorial aspirants in Oyo South Senatorial district, Hon. Rilwan Adesoji Akanbi popularly known as SOJ has urged people of Oyo state to maintain peace in order to sustain democracy in the country.
The financier of Rilwan Adesoji Akanbi Foundation (RAAF) made this known while visiting at weekend, the various places vandalised as a result of the mayhem unleashed in the city of Ibadan, Oyo state capital where burning of shops with houses, commercial tricycle, and destroying of several cars ensued for three days when suspected political thugs unleashed mayhem in the city.
Chief Akanbi said every inhabitant of Oyo state and Nigeria at large should be security conscious and maintain peace within their domains, particular as elections are approaching.
He added that seeking of political positions should not be characterised with do or die affair stating that APC is a peaceful conscious party that cannot resort to causing mayhem or harbouring political thugs to win political positions.
He said fact has emerged that the said hoodlums that unleashed the mayhem are not members of the APC, but gathered to be instigated by the opposition to give negative impression by members of the public that APCs are causal of political violence in the state.
He maintained that idle youths are instigated to perpetuate such acts, as a result of lack of employment saying because an idle hand, is the devil’s workshop.
The senatorial aspirant said as a way to ease unemployment and engage our youths, is the reason Rilwan Adesoji Akanbi Foundation (RAAF) was founded to reduce to a barest minimum non-engaged youths and women in the society to promote peace and tranquillity.
He further stated that RAAF has been alleviating the sufferings of the masses particularly the youths by engineering professionally managed programs such as ICT training, education schorlarship at all levels, capacity building, skill acquisition, disables and widows empowerment and job sourcing for fresh graduates through the RAAF Job Clinic.
He added that RAAF ICT Training has successfully trained over 1,000 students in different programs and at present RAAF has touched not less than 2,000 youths in various capacities across the state and still counting.
