Hon. Kazeem A. Alimi, a stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Ibadan North Local Government, has mourned the passing of Honorable Musiliudeen Olaide Adewale Akinremi, also known as Jagaban, a member of the Federal House of Representatives, who died on Wednesday.
In a statement released to journalists, Hon. Alimi described the day as a “solemn” one for the entire political community of Ibadan North Local Government Federal Constituency. He said Honorable Akinremi’s “sudden departure has cast a shadow over us all, leaving behind a void that will be deeply felt.”
Alimi highlighted Akinremi’s legacy as a philanthropist and dedicated public servant, stating that he “touched countless lives across our constituency” through his community empowerment initiatives, even in the absence of upcoming elections.
The PDP stalwart recalled his personal interactions with Akinremi, who had “earnestly attempted to persuade” him to reconsider his decision to return to the PDP, demonstrating his “genuine concern for our political unity and welfare.”
Alimi praised Akinremi’s leadership, which “extended beyond political affiliations” and his ability to command respect and admiration from all quarters. He described the late representative as a “unifying figure” known for his “integrity and steadfast principles.”
Beyond politics, Alimi said Akinremi was a “beloved figure, renowned for his infectious cheerfulness and boundless compassion.” He called on the community to honor Akinremi’s memory by cherishing the values he embodied: “selflessness, integrity, and a deep-seated dedication to his constituents’ welfare and beyond.”
In his concluding remarks, Alimi bid a solemn farewell to Honorable Musiliudeen Olaide Akinremi Jagaban, stating that his “presence among us will be sorely missed but [his] impact will be felt for generations to come.”
