The young woman who was tragically found dead in a hotel room in Gwarinpa, Abuja, has been identified as Aladi Tessy Offikwu, popularly known as “Itz Tessy” on Facebook. She hailed from Olaidu, Edumoga, in the Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State.
According to reports, Ms. Offikwu checked into the hotel on June 16th with an unidentified man. The following morning, hotel staff discovered her lifeless body in the room. Her hands were reportedly tied with a bedsheet, her mouth gagged, and she was found lying face down. Some unconfirmed accounts have alleged her eyes were forcibly removed, sparking further outrage and concern.
The man she lodged with remains unidentified and is currently at large. No arrests have been made as of the time of this report.
Sources say the deceased had informed a friend that she was going to meet someone she had connected with on Facebook.
The gruesome incident has reignited conversations around safety, especially for young women meeting strangers from social media. Many have taken to social platforms to express grief, anger, and caution, urging others to be more vigilant in their interactions.
