The identity of the young man who was hacked to death on Sunday by a serving member of the National Youth Service Corps In Uyo, Miss Odume Princess Paschaline, has been revealed.
The deceased is identified as Akwaowo Japhet, an indigene of Etinan Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State. He was hacked to death at his residence and his lifeless body with several cuts on his face and stomach discovered on Sunday when the murder suspect tried to escape.
According to eyewitnesses at the scene the lady was beaten to a pulp, the suspect claims she killed him in self defense as the deceased brought out a cutlass threatening to kill her if she doesn’t yield to his sexual demand. In a video making its rounds, she could be heard saying “I am innocent”.

Miss Odume Paschaline has been apprehended as the State Police Commissioner has ordered a thorough investigation of the incident.
Speaking on the incident, the police said they got a distress call and responded to it at 219 Abak Road, Uyo. They got there at the time the mob were at the Verge of lynching the murder suspect and rescued her.
Police preliminary investigation revealed that she and the deceased went to the deceased house. According to her, while at his house, the deceased brought out a machete and threatened to kill her. She was able to pick up the machete and used it to murder him in self defense. Police added she will be charged to court as soon as they are done with their investigation.
In coming days, more light will be shed on the circumstances surrounding the death of the Mr. Japhet. May his soul rest in peace.
