Incest: JSS3 Student Delivers Baby for Biological Father in Ibadan, stranded at UCH

A 14-year-old girl (name withheld) who was allegedly impregnated by her 43-year-old father, Kayode Oluwaseyifunmi, in Ibadan, has given birth to a baby girl at the University College Hospital (UCH).

The girl was said to have gone into premature labour at the orphanage home that gave her shelter after Radio Nigeria brought the case to light.

She was initially rushed to the Molete health center and the Oyo State-owned hospitals at Yemetu Adeoyo and Ring Road but was rejected due to complications associated with the delivery.

She was eventually referred to the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan, where she gave birth to a baby girl through a Cesarean operation. The newborn was immediately placed on oxygen as the pregnancy was not fully term.

The young mother also had to be given oxygen to resuscitate her lost strength, as she was too young for the great assignment her biological father allegedly gave her.

Radio Nigeria contacted the relatives of Mr. Oluwaseyifunmi and those of his late wife, but none could offer the financial assistance needed at the hospital.

The young mother was a JS3 student at a public school in the Oluyole local government area of Oyo State before the incident happened.

The case of the fourteen-year-old girl came to light when she suddenly stopped going to school during exams. Her disappearance became a tale in the community where she was living with her two younger sisters, aged ten and twelve.

When Radio Nigeria interviewed her, she explained that she had to stop her Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) due to her inability to face her fellow students.

The dark, chubby girl also said she had been having an illicit affair with her biological father for about two years before she got pregnant.

Meanwhile, Radio Nigeria reported the incident to the Ministry of Women’s Affairs. The perpetrator, Mr. Kayode Oluwaseyifunmi, who had been nurturing the three girls for over seven years after the demise of their mother, was arrested by the police and detained at the Agodi Correctional Centre in Ibadan.

What could have led a self-acclaimed Evangelist to such a heinous crime? The 43-year-old man, who was also a bricklayer, attributed the act to the devil, claiming that he did not know what came over him.

The mother and the newborn baby are presently at UCH due to financial constraints.
