The Federal Government is considering the proscription of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN).
This resolution was reached at a meeting President Muhammadu Buhari had with security operatives in the country.
It would be recalled that President Buhari met with security chiefs at the presidential villa, Abujaon Monday after the group’s attack.
At the emergency meeting late Monday afternoon, a decision was reached that the IMN be declared an illegal organisation in Nigeria, it was learnt.
The meeting which held at the instance of the president, came on the heels of the protest which claimed the lives of many including a Deputy Commissioner of Police, Umar Bellel and the Channels TV reporter.
It was learnt that the proscription, which is likely to come in form of an Executive Order, is expected to be made public anytime soon.
