Staff of some Federal varsities on Wednesday raised the alarm that the IPPIS office has yet to pay their July and August salaries, urging the Federal Government to come to their aide.
Our Correspondent gathered that some staff of Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Federal University Otu-eke, and Ahmadu Bello University among others have cried out to the Bursar’s of their various institutions to come to their aide as the IPPIS office was yet to pay their July and August salaries but all said they were paid September and October salaries..
It will be recalled that the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) have decried that the office of the Accountant General of the Federation has been withholding salaries of its members from February, 2020 with majority of them having their salaries withheld since July 2020 for failing to register on IPPIS.
A few days ago, salaries of some lecturers who had bowed to the pressure to register on IPPIS were paid while others were still withheld.
One of the affected staff who spoke to our Correspondent on condition of anonymity, said: “We wonder why our salaries of July and August are being withheld. We have obeyed the government by allowing ourselves to be captured on the IPPIS platform but still we are have issues with receiving our salaries. If the government knows this IPPIS is not perfect afterall. They should drop it. We didn’t have issues with the earlier platform, why should we have it with one the government has boasted would curb Corruption?,” he querried.
