No fewer than three students of JSAY Prevarsity students received the June and November 2022 British Council recognition and Outstanding Cambridge Learners awards out of 149 Nigeria students awarded by the council.
One out of the three JSAY Prevarsity students, Miss Aristotess Ufuophu-Biri, came top in Nigeria in June 2022 Cambridge International A level examination in Physics, Biology and Chemistry.
The remaining two JSAY Prevarsity students, recipients of the British Council awards, came top in November 2022 Cambridge International A Level in Physics and Information Technology.
Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Ibadan on the award, the Director of JSAY Prevarsity, Mrs Olajumoke Akere, expressed her delight over the awards.
Akere said that this was not the first or second time the school would be receiving British Council awards and that it has been consistent.
Akere said that the award would encourage the school to continue to support the learners with qualitative education that would make them excel both locally and internationally.
She appreciated the school’s board of Director, teachers that contribute to the high achievement and wished the awardees best in their future endeavours.
“People that come to JSAY Prevarsity are given all resources that will make them excel,we have good teachers and conducive environment and they is why our students are successful.
“Many of them that got the award are already in University both in Nigeria and abroad and I believe they would have successfully education,” she said.
Akere called on parents to strive and give their children qualitative and internationally education for them for them to be relevant locally and globally.
It would be recalled that the Cambridge Assessment International Education in partnership with the British Council celebrated and awarded the top performing students from 45 schools across Nigeria on Thursday in Lagos.
Speaking during the event, Juan Visser, the Regional Director, Sub-Saharan Africa Cambridge Assessment International Education, said 149 Nigerians got awards in various categories out of 1 million learners that sat for the examination.
Visser said the Cambridge programmes and qualifications help learners reach their potential and instil a lifelong love of learning and passion for discovery.
Also, Country Director Nigeria, British Council, Lucy Pearson said the globally recognised qualifications help students to attend the best universities, find amazing career opportunities, and set themselves up for a more rewarding life.
Pearson said they are honoured to work with their partner’s school in delivering UK assessments and qualifications in Nigeria.
He said the assessment and qualifications they offered empower students to develop their own interests and cultivate an informed curiosity and a lasting passion for learning.
