The Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, has on Thursday reversed the appointment of Festus Adedayo as his special adviser for media and publicity.
It would recalled that after the appointment of Adedayo, who was the former Special Adviser on media to immediate Former Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, there had been agitations from some quarters that he worked against All Progressive Congress (APC) in his state during 2019 elections.
Lawan, in a statement issued by his special assistant, Mohammed Isa, informed that he reviewed Adedayo’s appointment after wide consultation, wishing the media guru the best in his future endeavors.
The statement reads, “the office of the President of the Senate has reviewed the appointment of Mr Festus Adedayo as Special Assistant to the President of the Senate and decided to rescind its decision on the appointment, and wishes Mr Adedayo the best in his future endeavours”.
The Senate President appointed Mr Adedayo on Tuesday, but the decision was opposed by government loyalists who labeled the media expert as a harsh critic of the administration.
However, a replacement for the role has not been announced.
