Next-Level Consolidation Forum, Barrister Oladosu Oladipo has described as “tissue of lies” the claim by a faction of Afenifere, being led by Chief Ayo Adebanjo that Yoruba unanimously support the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi for the forthcoming 2023 general elections.
Recall that the group, in a statement released on Monday by its general secretary, Chief Sola Ebiseni, countered Ondo State Governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu’s statement, that “Afenifere doesn’t speak for the Yoruba people on the endorsement of Obi,”
Ebiseni said Afenifere’s decision to support Peter Obi for the presidency was a corporate decision of members of the group.
But in a statement he personally signed on Wednesday and made available to journalists in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital, Barrister Oladipo wondered how a faction of Afenifere could arrogate to itself an authority to speak for the over 40 million Yoruba people with their level of political sophistication and worldwide socialization.
Oladipo, who is also the president of Yoruba Patriots Movement (YPM), said that a very large majority of Yoruba is solidly behind the emergence of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the next President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Federal Republic of Nigeria come 29th May, 2023.
“I don’t know how many Yorubas are in the Labour party of Peter Obi,” he wondered.
Hon Dosu Oladipo said the political awareness of the large numbers of Nigerians has reached a very high level where no self-acclaimed leader(s) can just sit down in their cocoons and brainwashing people with tissues of lies with any aota of truth.
He cautioned the factional Afenifere leaders on the danger of taking more than what they can chew, saying Yoruba people are politically sophistically minded to decide the best for themselves among the presidential candidates for the 2023 general elections.
According to him, ” the Next-Level Consolidation Forum in Nigeria under his leadership, in all the wards across the 176,846 polling units in Nigeria, are canvassing day and night and moving from door to door, mobilising the electorates towards resounding electoral victory for Tinubu-Shettima APC Presidential candidatures in the February 25, 2023 Presidential election
He added that, “as a matter of fact, the entire members of Tinubu 2023 Southwest Next-Level Forum are seriously mobilising the electorates in the region to ensuring that Peter Obi does not get 15per cent of the votes from Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo and Ekiti States.
He advised both Adebanjo and Ebiseni to stop deceiving Obi.
“Chief Ayo Adebanjo knows very well the exchequer democracy dividends and monumental achievements of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the latter 8-years administration as Lagos state governor. How he catapulted Lagos State to become the No 5 largest economy in the whole of Africa. Adebanjo also not blind to the fact that Tinubu mentored the current Vice-President of Federal Republic of Nigeria, the current Ministers for Works & Housing; Interior; the Science and Technology; Information and Culture, the Governors of Ogun, Osun, Ekiti and Ondo States and the Speaker, Federal House of Representatives to mention just a few.” Oladipo said.
“Tinubu is a detribalized Nigerian patriot. His choice of Senator Kashim Shettima, the immediate past Executive Governor of Borno State for 8 years of distinctive competence and performance level as running mate is the straw that broke the back of both Atiku and Obi and their fellow supporters like the Adebanjos and Sola Ebisenis.
