Governor ‘Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has officially handed over 31 pieces of modern medical equipment to the Ring Road State Hospital, Adeoyo, Ibadan, as part of his administration’s commitment to upgrading specialist hospitals to the standard of University Teaching Hospitals.
Representing the governor at the handover event, Executive Assistant on Administration, Rev’d. Idowu Ogedengbe, explained that the donation followed a facility assessment conducted during the December 2024 medical outreach by Christ Compassion to the Rural World. The outreach team was unable to use Adeoyo’s theatre for surgeries due to inadequate facilities—a gap this new equipment aims to bridge.
Ogedengbe emphasized that the equipment, sourced for their quality and compatibility with accessible and affordable consumables, would strengthen the hospital’s capacity to deliver advanced healthcare services and support future partnerships with NGOs and religious groups.
“This initiative aligns with Governor Makinde’s vision to transform hospitals like Adeoyo into centres of surgical excellence and hubs for medical training and research,” he said.
He also cited Africa Research Connect, which highlighted Ring Road State Hospital’s ongoing contributions to medical research in areas such as mental health, geriatric care, and public health.
In his remarks, the hospital’s Chief Medical Director, Dr. Oladipo Aremu, thanked the governor for his support in improving the healthcare system. He noted that the new equipment would significantly enhance service delivery and ease the burden on staff and patients alike.
Dr. Olatunde Oladoyinbo of the Christian Missionary Foundation also praised the governor’s efforts to build an efficient healthcare infrastructure in the state.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including representatives of the Oyo State Hospital Management Board and the Hospital Management Board’s Permanent Secretary.
